myPhotopipe.com Comments on Upbeat Data
on Digital Photo Processing
Thursday April 19, 2007
ATLANTA, Apr. 19, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ --
myPhotopipe.com, Inc. (Pink Sheets: MPPC.PK),
a web-based online provider of digital photo processing and related
services, today commented upon an independent industry association
report showing exceptionally strong double digit growth in prints
processed from digital images and triple digit growth in online
ordering from online processors.
The Photo Marketing Association ("PMA") this week released data on digital photo printing through various retail channels . According to the PMA report (download PDF file here), 2007 was another excellent year for processors of prints from digital photographs. Overall, prints made from digital images increased 46%, while online ordering as a sales channel grew at a rate of 114%, in the 12 months ended January 2007. Households ordered 11.5% of their digital photos online and had them delivered via mail, compared with a 9.4% market share in the corresponding year-earlier period.
"The numbers are up across the board," noted L. Douglas Keeney, Chief Executive Officer of myPhotopipe.com, Inc. "Even better, our focus on online ordering is proving out in the marketplace. Three years ago, industry observers expected 'kiosks' to be the next big thing in digital photo processing. We disagreed. In our experience, consumers generally migrate towards the easiest, fastest, most convenient ways to purchase products and services, and ordering digital photo prints online is hard to beat for speed, convenience and even price. We committed to this segment and to an online business model, and for the PMA to report a 23% increase in our channel's share-of-market and an increase of 114% in online activity is a powerful testament to our vision of the future."
Since 2005, 'prints ordered online and received via mail' have increased from a 7.7% of all digital-still camera image prints to an 11.5% market share. In that same period, the market share for 'kiosks' has declined from 18.5% to 13.9%. Prints made with home printers continued to decline in market share last year, as they have for each of the past three years.
"I can think of few industries that are
enjoying such buoyant growth. These industry statistics illustrate
the powerful momentum and overall strength of the digital photography
market and how they contributed to myPhotopipe.com's 86% increase
in full-year sales and a 162% increase in sales during the fourth
quarter of 2006," concluded Keeney.
